Soft 3D memory foam shaped around your eyes and nose, with an adjustable strap. It closes the gaps where flat masks let light in, without touching your eyelids.

Why it doesn't press on your eyes

Molded 3D cups hold the mask away from your eyes, so you can blink freely and lash extensions aren't crushed. The soft foam rim rests on your brow and cheekbones instead.

Why it matters

Your best days start in the dark.

Sleep is when your body recovers and your mind sorts out the day. Cut it short and you feel it everywhere: mood, focus, energy.

Light is the easiest thing to get wrong. Your brain reads it as a signal to wake up, even through closed eyelids.

Northdusk keeps the light out wherever you sleep, without pressing on your eyes. So you wake up because you're rested, not because the sun came up.

A woman woken by early sunlight, holding her sleep mask

You're not a light sleeper. Your room is just too bright.

A streetlight through the curtain gap. Your partner's reading lamp. The sun at 5 a.m. in June. Your eyelids let more light through than you'd think, and light tells your body it's time to wake up.

A flat mask slips, presses and leaks light at the nose. This one is shaped to seal the edges and leave your eyes alone.

Wherever the light gets in.

Asleep in the mask while a bedside lamp is on

Your partner reads. You sleep.

Bedside lamps, streetlights, the hallway light. Keep your side of the bed dark.

Asleep in the mask in a plane window seat

Sleep through the window seat.

Daylight flights, red-eyes and cabin lights you can't switch off.

Asleep in the mask on a sunny afternoon

Night shift? Sleep at noon.

Turn a bright afternoon into night and sleep when your schedule says.

Not every sleep mask is made to stay dark.

How it works

Shaped around your face, not pressed against it.

Most masks are a flat strip of fabric. They slip, press on your eyelids and let light in beside your nose.

This one is a 3D shell. It rests on your brow and cheekbones, curves away from your eyes and closes the gap at your nose.

What the research says

Light at night doesn't just wake you up.

In a 2022 Northwestern Medicine study, healthy young adults who slept one night with the overhead room light on had a higher heart rate through the night and more insulin resistance the next morning than those who slept in dim light.

Mason et al., PNAS, 2022 (20 participants)

Dim light < 3 lux
Room light on 100 lux
  • Heart rate during sleep Higher
  • Heart rate variability Lower
  • Insulin resistance next morning Higher
After one night with the room light on, compared with sleeping in dim light.

Send us a question
Will it stay on if I sleep on my side?
Yes. The adjustable strap holds it snug without squeezing, and the slim side wings lie flat against the pillow.
Can I wear it with lash extensions?
Yes. The molded cups keep the fabric off your lashes, so they aren't pressed or bent.
Does it block light around the nose?
Yes. The shell is shaped around the bridge of your nose to close the gap where flat masks let light in.
Can I use it for naps, flights or day sleep?
That's what it's for. It packs flat into a bag and works anywhere you need the lights off.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cool water with mild soap and let it air dry.
Do you ship outside the US?
Not yet. We currently ship to US addresses only.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Try it for 60 nights. If you don't sleep better, keep the mask and we'll refund you.
